This summer has been a wonderful combination of professional and personal growth for me. When I arrived in Savoie at the beginning of June, having never visited this region, I was immediately welcomed warmly by the AES team. From attending meetings of the General Council, to bike tours and day trips around the area, I quickly came to understand and love everything Savoie has to offer.
Once I became familiar with the Agency's goals and the economy in Savoie, my mission was to adapt the website to attract a more international audience. As it is with any economic region, the departmental and governmental structures here are rather complex. However, the most important thing is not to memorize the economic statistics of Savoie, but to get some insight into the lifestyle here. Some of the Savoisien characteristics that became apparent to me this summer, for example, were the international accessibility of the area, the high quality of everyday life here, and the clear focus on environmental protection and pride.
I feel so fortunate to have had such an enriching experience this summer. There is no doubt that I will take with me a better understanding of economic development work, as well as memories of the unique adventures I had here, and most of all, a love for the region and people of Savoie.
