Some 6,000 researchers, engineers and technicians in more than 500 laboratories.
MINATEC, the pole of innovation in micro and nanotechnologies, was created in Grenoble in order to form future generations of engineers, technicians and nanotechnology researchers. 3,500 people benefit from high-tech research structures, training and industrial improvement. CEA-LETI, the premier European research laboratory in the sector, is comparable to the IMEC in Holland.
Telecom
Capital of 5.2 M€ - more than 20,000 employees
The region is one of the major centres in Europe and covers the network of telecoms, electronic and optoelectonic composers, equipment and softwares, loaded systems and communication objects to the services associated to the network.

With more than 15,000 workers, Rhône-Alpes region places 2nd in this sector. It is the hub of SSII and internationally-known French editors like : Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Soleri T-System, Atos Origin, Sopra, GFI Informatique, Teamlog, Unilog, Focal, Transiciel, Steria, Cegid, Esker, Tracing Server, Hardis, DCS Automotive, Axemble, Everteam, Microauto, Silverprod.

Savoie is involved in a sixth competition pole : the pole of digital leisure.
The aim of the latest is the convergence of 600 regional PME (small companies), 60 regional research laboratories and 30 regional schools in the field of games, films and audioviusel.
